Merlot 2004

Napa Valley

Grape Source   This wine is a blend made from four different vineyards, three in the Napa Valley, and the fourth in the spectacular High Valley appellation in Lake County. Each vineyard contributed a set of flavors and smells that, together, created a synergism of sensory attributes that make this such a lush and beautiful wine.

Brix at Harvest    24.6 degrees

Maceration  There were several different fermentation lots. Maceration on skins ranged from 10 to 25 days.

Varietal Blend  100 % Merlot

Sensory Notes:

Nose:  The nose is quintessential Merlot, with loads of tarry dark berry fruit and an understated but firm peppery note, along with sweet oak characteristics.

Mouth:  Lots of dark fruit and a wonderful countercurrent full of the bright nuances of plum, herb, sage, dill, and cassis. Well-balanced in the mouth with pleasant tannins and good acidity.
