Pinot Noir 2005

North Coast

Grape Source   The grapes for this lovely wine came from several vineyards in California 's North Coast appellation.  The majority came from Mendocino’s Potter Valley (Pauli Vineyards) and our own vineyard in the Napa Carneros.

Clones    This wine is great blend of the modern ultra-premium clones of Pinot Noir-113, 114, 115, 667, 777 and Pommard.

Chemistry at bottling:    pH: 3.76    Total Acidity .61g/100ml   Alcohol: 13.88%   Free Sulfur Dioxide: 26 ppm    Total Sulfur Dioxide: 65 ppm

Sensory Notes:

Nose:  This wine has a nose full of the wonderful richness that good Pinot Noir is famous for—lots of berry aromas, subtle mushroom complexity and toasty oak.

Mouth:  The mouth explodes with blueberry, Bing cherry, anise and toast.  Even more striking is the depth and richness of the mouth-feel, like rich, thick, red velvet for the mouth.  The wine is very fruity, with blackberry characters and a big, rich, tarry and solid balance.  The oak is refined and quite opulent with its “warm” characters.
